Product Designer

Summary

The Product Designer is a creative and strategic design practitioner who will shape the end-to-end user experience of APS's cloud-native FinTech platform. You'll translate complex regulatory workflows and data-heavy processes into intuitive, elegant product experiences that empower banks, program managers, and FinTech operators to do their best work. This is a high-impact role at the intersection of design craft, user advocacy, and financial services compliance.

What You'll Do

• Own your workstreams across the design process — Drive your assigned initiatives from discovery through delivery: user research, journey mapping, wireframing, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI design.
• Conduct user research & usability testing — Run interviews, contextual inquiries, and usability sessions with clients and internal stakeholders to surface insights and validate design decisions.
• Define and evolve the design system — Contribute to and maintain a shared component library and design system that ensures consistency, accessibility, and scalability across the APS platform.
• Translate complexity into clarity — Break down intricate dispute management workflows, compliance rules, and data-heavy interfaces into clean, user-centered experiences that reduce cognitive load.
• Collaborate cross-functionally — Partner daily with Product Owners, Engineers, QA, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure designs are feasible, compliant, and aligned with business objectives within an Agile/Scrum SDLC.
• Deliver developer-ready assets — Produce precise, well-annotated design specifications and prototypes in Figma (or similar) that set engineering up for success.
• Champion accessibility and compliance — Ensure all designs meet WCAG accessibility standards and account for relevant regulatory constraints (Reg E, Reg Z).

What You're Bringing

• 4+ years of professional product design or UX/UI design experience, ideally within a SaaS or FinTech environment.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating your process — from research and ideation through polished, production-ready UI.
• Hands-on proficiency with Figma (or comparable design and prototyping tools).
• Solid grasp of user-centered design principles, interaction design patterns, and responsive/web application design.
• Familiarity with Claude Code and/or Figma MCP for AI-augmented design and development
• Experience designing for data-intensive or workflow-driven applications where clarity and efficiency are paramount.
• Effective communicator — able to present and defend design decisions to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum environment with iterative delivery cycles.

Nice to Have

• Experience designing within highly regulated industries — financial services, healthcare, legal tech, or similar.
• Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as Angular or React and an understanding of component-based design systems.
• Knowledge of Reg E, Reg Z, or WCAG accessibility standards; familiarity with payment processing and chargeback workflows is a strong plus.
• Experience with analytics tools or data visualization design (dashboards, reporting interfaces).
• Background in AI-assisted or predictive UX patterns.
